[DUBOUT] - CINEMA - Marcel GUIBAUD (1921-1971, director) / I - Lot 312
[DUBOUT] - CINEMA - Marcel GUIBAUD (1921-1971, director) / Important autograph letter signed, 3 p in-4, (1950), to Max Favalelli, about his film "Rue sans Loi", a film adaptation of Albert Dubout's drawings (a comedy in which Louis de Funès plays a small role): He responds to a bad review, blaming Dubout for the film's poor results, recalling in the preamble that "Dubout once made two cartoons that weren't successful", he says he noticed, after seeing the film a number of times in public, that "the silhouettes entertain for ten minutes", but it would have been necessary to energize the plot, but "Dubout wasn't keen to see a plot take precedence over 'his' characters", Guibaud gives precise details of sequences in the film, and believes that only "De Funès came through, despite the unbelievable beard Dubout gave him", because he's such a great actor, "all the others feel that their characters are beyond a certain boundary", and cites an anecdote: "My irritated assistant once replied to one of your colleagues who asked: 'What the hell is Dubout doing in this film? - He's putting suspenders in every corner".
