Jean-Baptiste MALEZIEUX dit PATIOT (Nauroy Aisne 1818 - 1906) / Suite of 3 original youthful pencil drawings on large paper, one signed lower right, made during his studies at the Ecole royale de dessin Maurice Quentin de La Tour de Saint-Quentin (Aisne): portraits of young men (the signed one is 30.5 x 47 cm, mounted on a 48 x 64 cm sheet, and the other 2 are each 47 x 61 cm) [This free school, founded in 1782 by the famous pastellist, was intended to awaken the artistic senses of young people, particularly those destined for the mechanical arts of textiles, Jean-Baptiste, from a family of weavers, began classes in 1832 and for 5 years received the most prestigious prizes and awards at the school, enabling him to enter the Beaux-Arts de Paris in 1837 and become a pupil of history painter François-Edouard Picot, himself a pupil of David].
