BELGIUM - SAINT-NICOLAS (SINT-NIKLAAS) / Important reportage of 54 original photographs (17 x 11 cm) by Gustave MALFLIET (stamped on back) of the 1950 demonstrations in support of the King of the Belgians Leopold III, at the time of the "Royal Question" (consultation of the people for the return or not of Leopold), the consultation being scheduled for March 12, the great tradition of carnival was therefore the pretext for this massive Flemish popular support: the parade, the various floats, the officials and military, the grandstand, the various placards ("Wy pompiers zyn trouw aan den Koning", "Hulde aan den Koning!"), tanks mocking Hitler and Mussolini, etc.
