DEPARTEMENT CARD SET / "Analyse géographique des départements de la France", Paris, [1836], card set (13.2 x 8.2 cm) in original wood and cardboard box (12 x 16 cm), with illustration glued to lid, marked "3rd edition": this educational map suite is complete with 90 maps, including 4 maps numbered I to IV (title, disclaimer, distribution, list of departments) and 86 departmental maps numbered 1 to 86 - each department is represented by a map extract surrounded by representative features and the names of famous people, at the bottom of the maps is an introductory text (please note that the numbering of the départements is not alphabetical, but geographical) - 32 maps have been hand-colored (3 maps have a tear but no damage, the illustration on the box is soiled and the box is in used condition).
