Nasa. A decade or so after the Second World War, rocket launches followed one another at CAPE CANAVERAL in Florida, in the midst of the space race against the Soviet Union. Here, the JUPITER C missile carries the "Explorer IV" satellite into orbit. July 1958, vintage silver print. Legend in the margin on the front. Date on back "JUL 28 1958" and stamp "ASSOCIATED PRESS WIREPHOTO / REG. U. S. PATENT OFFICE" on back. 25.4 x 20.6cm with margins.
