NASA. During the Space Shuttle Columbia mission (STS-107), t - Lot 203
NASA. During the Space Shuttle Columbia mission (STS-107), the 113th flight of a space shuttle, the "SOLSE-2" (Shuttle Ozone Limb Sounding Experiment-2) system designed to monitor the Earth's ozone layer was tested. On this occasion, astronauts on the International Space Station captured this extraordinary "earth's limb" view of the Earth's atmosphere. The black part is that of the Earth, and the colored part is that of the atmosphere, whose thinness can be seen here. Above, the vacuum of space in which the Earth floats. The mission of the space shuttle Columbia STS-107 was the last, and was marked by the disaster that saw it disintegrate as it re-entered the atmosphere on February 1, 2003. Vintage chromogenic print. Numbering on front. Legend on back label. 20 x 25.6 cm.
