NASA. LARGE FORMAT. Spectacular observation of Saturn's ring - Lot 211
NASA. LARGE FORMAT. Spectacular observation of Saturn's rings by the Cassini space probe. The orbits specially designed for Cassini place the Earth and Cassini on opposite sides of Saturn's rings, a geometry known as occultation. Cassini made its first radio occultation observation of Saturn's rings on May 3, 2005. This simulated image was constructed from measured optical depth profiles. It represents the ring structure observed with a resolution of around 10 kilometers. Color is used to represent information on the size of ring particles in different regions, based on the measured effects of the three radio signals. 40.6 x 40.6 cm with margins.
