NASA. LARGE FORMAT. We're in the heart of our galaxy: the Milky Way. The HUBBLE space telescope has captured a sparkling showcase of stars. Aging red giant stars coexist with their younger and more abundant cousins, the smaller white Sun-like stars, in this crowded region of our galaxy's ancient center, or bulge. Most of the bright blue stars in the image are probably newly-formed stars in the foreground, in the galaxy's disk. The center of our galaxy is approximately 26 million light-years from Earth. This photograph was taken in October 2009 and October 2012, and is a vintage chromogenic print. Numbering in the margin on the front. Legend on back label. 40.6 x 40.6cm with margins.
