NASA. LARGE FORMAT. Magnificent mosaic photograph of the extraordinary planet Mars, which in the coming decades is preparing to welcome mankind and write a new page in our human civilization. The photograph here is similar to the one you'd get from a spaceship heading for Mars. It is made up of 102 images taken by the Viking Orbiter probe. In particular, the entire "Valles Marineris" canyon system, over 2,000 km in length, is clearly visible. To the west are the 3 Tharsis volcanoes, each nearly 25 km high. 2013.
