LEHMANN - Germany (1) EXPRESS" CARRIER Ref 770. In the early 20th century, wealthy travelers laden with large trunks would call on these porters, speeding between the station and the hotel. Ernst Paul Lehmann's toy - said to have been inspired by the one previously produced by Fernand Martin - reproduces one of them, in lithographed sheet metal. This is the 2nd version, with 2-part 8-spoke wheels, which can also be identified by its rear litho bearing the reference 770. Produced between 1928 and 1938. Key-operated clockwork movement (integral), with the wheels driving the wearer's legs. Works with difficulty. Very good condition, wear only on the wheels. Dimensions: 16.5 x 13 cm). Condition: A-/-
