MARCHESINI for TOSCHI - Italy (1) - Lot 150
MARCHESINI for TOSCHI - Italy (1) FERRARI 500 F2 (1952) VERY RARE Promotional item commissioned by the TOSCHI distillery in Vignola (BO) from toy manufacturer MLB (Marchesini, Bologna). To celebrate the world championship title of Alberto Ascari, who had won every Grand Prix (6 out of 7) except Indianapolis in 1952, Nello Ugolini, the Scuderia's sporting director, had the idea of having this model made. It was presented to numerous personalities, garnished with 3 bottles of Toschi brand liqueur. The small double-sided embossed paper badge (Ferrari crest + T for Toschi) attached to the steering wheel is still present. The single-seater, fitted with Pirelli rubber tires, is made of cast aluminum painted red, and measures 55 cm in length. It consists of 2 removable shells, connected by 3 flaps and a screw. These components were subcontracted to Fonderpress, whose engraving appears inside the body, guaranteeing its authenticity. When the bottles were in place, the small motor, driven by an elastic movement, was offered separately in a small cardboard box. Only when the bottles were removed could it be mounted in the single-seater. Drink or drive, you had to choose! Mythical piece, rare in this condition. Neither bottles nor engine are included in the sale. Size: 55 x 15 x 15 cm. Windscreen fixing (yellowed and cracked mica) to be revised. A plastic "Ferrari Formula" display easel is included.
