Imbert De LA PLATIÈRE De BOURDILLON. Letter signed "Comte D' - Lot 190
Imbert De LA PLATIÈRE De BOURDILLON. Letter signed "Comte D'IMBERT DE LA PLATIÈRE, Lieutenant-Colonel des Troupes légères". From ROUEN (76) February 1, 1782. 1p in-4°: "Sir, allow me to ask for your kindness in favor of Mr de La Rosière, former Captain of infantry who was sentenced in 1776 to ten years in prison by the Tribunal. Since then, this gentleman has been atoning for the act of violence which led to his confinement. I have just sent a memorandum to Mr Maréchal de RICHELIEU, to urge him to take an interest in his fate in relation to the Birth of Mr le DAUPHIN, so as to be exempted from completing the 3 years he still has to serve. You can do a great deal to make his just wishes come true, sir, and I claim the effects as the son of a Lieutenant des Maréchaux de France, and as a descendant of the Maréchal de LA PLATIÉRE-BOURDILLON. If my father, who is currently in Briançon, where he commands his Regiment, had been in Paris, he would have anointed Sieur de la Rosière's cause with you, Monsieur. I like to think that his absence will not prevent you from helping to do a good deed. My particular gratitude can only be matched by the respectful attachment with which I am, sir." 1p in-4°.
