ANJOU. 1790. Jean François RICHE, Deputy of the Third Estate - Lot 210
ANJOU. 1790. Jean François RICHE, Deputy of the Third Estate for ANJOU at the Estates-General of 1789, Judge of the Commercial Court of ANGERS. (Born in Angers in 1736). Autograph letter signed "RICHE" Rue St Thomas du Louvre, N°50, addressed to Mr BARET, Rue St Michel à Angers. 3pp in-8°: "Monsieur, I have informed the Constitution Committee of your letter, but they have not yet given a definitive answer. It is quite true that since the venality of offices has been abolished, the clerks' offices will be merged with the other offices of the judiciary. The new clerks will be salaried by the Nation, and will receive only a third of the salary of a judge. This is the reason why I feared for your claim... I would never have imagined that the Revolution would have been as detrimental to you as you tell me, ... I therefore had every reason to believe that the reimbursement to be made to you would be advantageous by placing it in acquisitions of Biens Nationaux you have at your disposal the domains of Perré Neuf which must suit you well... I send my love to your children..."
