The matter on which you have asked for my opinion, being for you of great interest, and preserving, moreover, serious questions, I had to believe that my isolated opinion would not have as much influence, and consequently would not be as useful to you, as a consultation given by a certain number of famous jurisconsults with whom I would have gathered, and it is the only motive which made me propose the consultation to you of which I took care to indicate, by outline, the fees... Sir, I have not opened a consulting room, nor do I practice as a consulting lawyer. All my time is spent on other work, and it is only for my acquaintances, or when I find myself in a position to be useful, that I deal with questions relating to existing disputes..." - 2 pages in-4°.
