PARCHAPPE (Charles Jean Baptiste) Epernay/ MARNE 1787 - 1866 - Lot 468
PARCHAPPE (Charles Jean Baptiste) Epernay/ MARNE 1787 - 1866 - Major General, Deputy of MARNE to the Legislative Body, Director of War Administration - Seven Autograph Letters Signed + one Profession of Faith - in-8°: STRASBOURG (67) October 25, 1830 - Letter A.S. to Mr NOVINCE in PARIS - 4pp in-4°: "... I experienced your firm and loyal conduct when I saw you at the Bourse at the head of the National Guard that you commanded in our sublime Days of JULY, refusing me the command of LA BOURSE because the order conferring it on me was not approved by General LA FAYETTE, and then returning it to me with the best grace in the world when I received approval. I shall never forget the order you established in the midst of an unprecedented uproar, and the far-sighted measures you took to ensure that the wounded were cared for, the prisoners supplied with food and the combatants with cartridges... I arrived in Strasbourg on the 22nd, after travelling through the Seine, Marne and Meurthe-et-Moselle. Everywhere I went, I saw the inhabitants of the towns and countryside in perfect spirits. There isn't a town where there isn't an armed and well-dressed National Guard; Strasbourg's is admirable and very numerous. The Regiment was very well received in the towns it passed through...". + PARIS December 16, 1841 - L.A.S. to M. MAHÉRAULT Maître des requêtes: "You have been able to appreciate the extent of the trouble I have been experiencing for some months, recalled from AFRICA in spite of myself, and displaced from a Command that had been given to me at my request.". (Extract) 4pp in-8° + 5 Letters to PANCKOUCKE; He asks that the Moniteur be sent to him in Champrosay via DRAVEIL (Seine-et-Oise).
