FIRST EMPIRE - Jean-François-Xavier LARRIU (1772-1849) Gener - Lot 78
FIRST EMPIRE - Jean-François-Xavier LARRIU (1772-1849) General during the Revolution and the Empire, who was, among other things, Colonel d'Etat-Major at Pau: Important collection of documents tracing the service of this "Brave" in the service of the Army during Napoleon's campaigns: file on his family origins, various orders, letters from his superiors, replies to his requests, pensions, service records, etc....Jean-François Xavier Larriu, maréchal de camp (Artiguelouve, 1772 - Pau, 1850). As a young officer, he took part in the Italian campaign, was caught up in the capitulation of Bailen in 1808, and served in the French campaign under Augereau. Appointed maréchal de camp by Napoleon in May 1815, he was demoted by the Restoration and retired in 1821. In 1830, he was reappointed maître de camp, retiring in 1834. It was General Larriu who presented the retired officers to the Duc de Montpensier at the Château de Pau. Such a gathering of original documents on an officer of the First Empire is rare, most of these "dossiers" having been dispersed according to the interest of the documents they contain... Here, everything has been preserved.
