WAR 39/45 - Concentration Camp - Reunion of 17 clandestine p - Lot 142
WAR 39/45 - Concentration Camp - Reunion of 17 clandestine photographs taken by a prisoner of the Miranda da Ebro concentration camp in Spain in 1943. This concentration camp mainly received escapees from France. These amateur photographs, taken clandestinely with a small Kodack camera, were later removed and enlarged. They are captioned with a typewriter. A neutral ally of Hitler, Franco interned all escapees from France in this camp, but never handed them over to the Germans. Kept for a few months, the prisoners were released to...the Allies, who no doubt had to give a "compensation" to the Spanish state, which was thus in a position to benefit. A rare and moving collection of original documents.
