Sewing box in moulded wood, poly-lobed shape with rich floral decoration in papier-mache appliqué.
Resting on four ball feet, it opens onto a white moire-covered compartment containing two small cut-crystal and gilded flower flasks (one stopper damaged); white velvet tray containing a cut-crystal and gilded salt flask, two gilded metal thread spools, scissors (point missing), a punch, a gilded metal needle box and a metal thimble.

By family tradition, this box would have belonged to Queen Marie-Henriette of Belgium (1832-1902), wife of King Leopold II (1835-1909), given to her friend Madame Lieutenant.
