NASA - USAF (UNITED STATE ARMY FORCES). Magnificent MERCURY "MA-2" rocket liftoff on February 21, 1961. With colors worthy of a Tintin and Snowy album, this superb photograph of the lift-off of the first generation of American launchers designed to take man into space is rare. This was 1961, and NASA's communication through the distribution of its photographs was still very much limited to NASA and US military scientists and executives. These iconic images are therefore, beyond their aesthetic aspect, which also testifies to the beginnings of the architecture of the space adventure, important photographic works in any photographic collection.
