NAPOLEON1er (1769-1821, Emperor) / Letters patent on parchment signed "Napoléon" in his own hand, given at the Palais de Fontainebleau on November 12, 1809, countersigned by Prince Jean-Jacques-Régis de Cambacéres (1753-1824, Arch-Chancellor of the Empire), granting the title of Chevalier to Silvestre Lespinasse, member of the Legion of Honor, Major in the First Regiment of Dragoons, born in 1775 in Saint-Domingue, a title transmissible to his direct, legitimate, natural or adoptive descendants, from male to male, by order of progeny - With this title, the Emperor grants him an endowment consisting of state property located in Westphalia: 1° Annuities dependent on the Domaine de Gudensberg, located in the commune of Padensberg, district of Cassel, department of Fulde - 2° A mill, its land and annuities dependent on the Domaine d'Iesberg, commune of the same name, district of Marbourg, department of Werra - The Chevalier de Lespinasse is authorized to bear in all places the coat of arms and escutcheon as shown and colored in the present letters and which are: "Argent, a dragon naissant Vert scaled Or surmounted by a comble Vert, a dragon's saber in front Argent the point to the dexter, bordure Gules of the third of the shield, at the sign of the knights; liveries: white, red and green, the green in borders only" [this appointment follows the decree of 25 prairial year 12 naming Lespinasse member of the Legion of Honor and the decree of 4 June 1809 granting him an endowment].
