LOUIS XV(1710-1774, Roi de France et de Navarre) / Lettres de retenue de chargesur vélin (52.5 x 32.5 cm) signed "Louis" (Secrétaire de la Main) and countersigned in his own hand byLouis Phélypeaux, Secrétaire d'Etat de la Maison du Roi, given inVersailleson April 26, 1745, dry seal under paper: Following the resignation of Claude Thaurin, King Louis XV retains Etienne Féger as "Porte Caban de nos Ecuries", on the favorable report made of his "affection for our Service", after he had been found to be "of good character and Catholic, Apostolic and Roman religion", after having received from him "the prize" and "the oath in such case as is required and customary" [The "Porte Caban" or "Porte Cabine" was responsible for bringing what was necessary for the King to face the rain when he was hunting, traveling or at War - a highly prized position, since he was in direct intimacy with the King, and could even have the honor of putting the coat on his shoulders - This position was offered for the hefty sum of 4,000 livres - From a family of Bordeaux notables, ship-owners and merchants enriched by triangular trade,Etienne Féger held this position from 1745 to 1769] - On the left margin is the attestation of the oath taken by Etienne Féger on July 8, 1745 in Bordeaux at Château Trompette - On the back, a visa signed by Antoine-Charles Lorinier, Ecuyer Intendant Général des Ecuries du Roi à Paris.
