Blanchard (successor to Jules Hetzel), who was in charge of the publication of George Sand's Œuvres Illustrées: Johannot urgently requests woodcuts for "Valentine", "I don't have a single woodcut left for the page headings for which I need to start", "I only have a few woodcuts left in poor condition, several of which are cracked and which I believe it would be possible to have the merchant take back".
