Rousseau and Mirabeau himself, who figured perfectly with the renowned men associated with him. Mr. Soufflot, architect of the newly-built church of Ste Geneviève, had the legend removed: "au Dieu tout puissant sous l'invocation de Ste Geneviève" (to God almighty, under the invocation of Ste Geneviève), to be replaced by this one: "aux grands hommes la patrie reconnaissante" (to great men, the grateful fatherland), thus changing the dedication of this superb edifice.
