REINE MARIE-ANTOINETTE / "Marie-Antoinette devant le cercueil du Roi Louis XVI", original unsigned ink wash late 18th / early 19th century, 7 x 11 cm pasted on laid paper 9 x 16.5 cm; this drawing was used for an engraving which is attached - it is an imaginary allegorical scene, with the king's coffin placed on a pedestal against a background of draperies decorated with the Royal Arms, but realistic, since the 3 figures present are asleep in total indifference.
