Olympic Games/ summer, 1920 (?)/ Antwerp (?). An astonishing and rare plate (6x5.5) in gilded metal in its case: obverse: "the ancient oath under the portico with palms", reverse: large view of a stadium with a curious central ring, and the motto "Pro Patria Semper"...On a base of laurel, oak and snake. Perhaps a variation on the first oath taken in Antwerp in 1920 by Victor Boin, perhaps a project for 1924, in any case a fine piece based on this long-essential gesture.
