LES PAYS BAS EN 1805 (REPUBLIQUE BATAVE): Autograph letter signed (2 p in-8 plus address page) from geographer Edmé MENTELLE (1730-1815) to his colleague Jean-Denis BARBIER DU BOCAGE (1760-1825), in which he announces the copy by himself of a letter from Dutch scholar Jan Hendrik van SWINDEN (1746-1823, mathematician, physicist and politician) who, also one of the Directors of the Batave Republic, provides extensive information on the geographical divisions, constitution and administration of the Batave Republic; Manuscript in Edme Mentelle's hand, copying van Swinden's letter, 22 p. large in-8, with header annotation in Barbier du Bocage's hand.
