MUSIC - Clémence de GRANDVAL (née de Reiset, 1828-1907, comp - Lot 417
MUSIC - Clémence de GRANDVAL (née de Reiset, 1828-1907, composer, pupil of Saint-Saëns, received piano lessons from Chopin) / Autograph letter signed, 3 p in-8, from Fontainebleau, where "I have taken refuge to work on my opera", she says she knows nothing of the "repurchase of the Concerts Populaires", "Mr. Pasdeloup having been very bad to me this year for no other reason than the caprice that too often drives him"; on the other hand, she says she is "completely linked in friendship and publishing with Hartmann (nb: Georges Hartmann, music publisher and co-founder of the Concerts Colonne); as for the "Union des Jeunes Compositeurs" (nb: brief association created in 1882, which allows us to date this letter, by Ernest Chausson, perhaps the addressee of this letter?), "it rests on a basis that I find absolutely unworkable, that of having only the works of 20 people performed".
