Parchment (20 x 31 cm) - (In 1410, at the height of the Hundred Years' War, Jean I de Gramont swore an oath of loyalty to King Henry IV of England, on the occasion of his marriage to Marie Montaud, Dame de Mussidan, who brought him the Citadelle de Blaye, key to the Gironde and a protective lock on Bordeaux, as a dowry. This tribute was renewed by François I de Gramont, son of Jean I, in 1439. A few years later, in 1442, sensing the weakening influence of the Kings of England in Aquitaine, he handed over the citadel of Blaye to Charles VII, King of France).
