ROCHAMBEAU - Jean-Baptiste-Donatien de Vimeur de ROCHAMBEAU(1725-1807,Marshal of France in 1791 and hero of the American War of Independence)/Piece signed by him, 1 p in-4 oblong (29 x 21 cm), given atCamp de Baurbach(Germany), October 6, 1762, on the letterhead of theRégiment de Poitou: Certificate in favor of Sergeant Jean Jaumard, of the Fontanged Company of the said Regiment, who has served 30 years (4 as a soldier or grenadier and 26 as a sergeant), "with zeal, exactitude, probity and distinction, of good life and morals and of regular conduct" - He finds himself "hors d'état de continuer, by two shots he received at the Affaire de Plaisance, including one to the knee and one to the side, and another shot to the foot at the Battle of Rosbach"- The certificate is also signed byLachaise, Major of the Regiment andRenaud-César de CHOISEUL-PRASLIN(1735-1791) Colonel of the Regiment.
