SAINT-DOMINGUE - LA LUZERNE (Minister of the Navy and Governor of Saint-Domingue) / La Luzerne justifies himself against the denunciations made against him by the deputies of Saint-Domingue: Rare first edition of his "Mémoire envoyé le 18 juin 1790 au Comité des rapports de l'Assemblée Nationale", Paris, Imprimerie Royale, 1790, complete with introduction, 117 pages of the memoir, 72 pages (in which he repeats point by point the 15 denunciations and 6 reproaches) and 84 pages of supporting documents, including the fold-out table on page 29, the 274 pages (22 x 28 cm), in quires, are sewn and in perfect condition, printed on fine laid paper - a very interesting document which, thanks to the multitude of details provided, gives a very precise picture of Saint-Domingue, with lists of the various colonists, their arrivals, their possessions, statistics concerning slaves, the various possessions of the aristocrats of the kingdom, etc.
