DEUX-SEVRES (79) / Important archive concentrated on the commune of Saint-Martin-de-Sanzay, in the canton of Thouars, mainly from the GIRARDEAU, POIRAULT and COTILLEAU families, over 130 documents from the 18th to the end of the 19th century (5 Ancien Régime, 15 Empire, 60 Restoration/Louis-Philippe, 10 Second-Empire, 40 République), deeds (expéditions, qq private signatures), concerning in particular the farms of Saint-Just-sur-Dive, Basses Chaigneries in Mauzé (Thouars), Maranzais, La Baudrière, the families allied or in business are the Logeais, Oudry, Pellerin, Page, Girard, Thibault, Ardit etc., and the areas around Thouars. and the places around Thouars are Bourdillière, La Clavière, Argenton-le Château, Argenton-l'Eglise, Dillon, Auboué, Maulais, etc.., deeds concern leases of tenant farms, statements of debts, land sales and purchases, mortgages, concessions, etc, numerous documents concerning Jean Poirault, owner and merchant, and his relations with his merchant partner Emery Bougron; a procedure for the repayment of a ground rent under the Empire concerning François Cotilleau and Baron Charles-Louis de Laspaix de Saint-Généroux (interesting bundle of copies of deeds dating back to 1771), in 1845, a surveying procedure between Cotilleau and Charles-Corneille Loury, owner of Château de Maulais, and a complete military replacement file for a Cotilleau son under the Second Empire - some thirty deeds were passed for these families from Saint-Martin-de-Sanzay to Montreuil-Bellay, in the Maine-et-Loire department, 8 km away.
