ALEXANDRE SEVERE Aureus A/ IMP C M AVR SEV ALEXAND AVG Bust of the emperor, laurelled and draped R/ PM TRP V COS II PP Representation of Alexander's Nymphaeum Gold 6.58 gr 226 RIC 58 This rare aureus represents the Nymphaeum of Alexander, a fountain built in Rome on the Esquiline at the beginning of the 3rd century. This monument served as the final reservoir for water arriving in Rome via the Aqua Julia aqueduct.
