Money changer's box with 12 weights. - Lot 39
Money changer's box with 12 weights. Inscribed box with the names of the coins in Dutch. The weights in this box have a variety of origins, including several bearing the crowned LG hallmark of Laurens Grosset, active in Lyon in the late 17th century, unmarked weights, and very fine weights relating to older monetary species. Boxes were often recomposed to reflect changes in the currencies of various nations, which explains the heterogeneous composition. Box from the early 17th century, probably of Dutch origin.
