Persian dervish album page Black line drawing, polychrome pigments and gold on paper Iran, late 17th century, Safavid period, with additions from the Qadjare period (19th century) 26.4 x 15.4 cm (page view) A turbaned dervish is depicted standing in a landscape, wearing a fan on his belt. The scene is typical of the black line drawings of the Safavid period in the style of Muhammad Muhsin. It is set in a blue frame speckled with gold, with margins decorated with birds, tchi clouds, shrubs and rocks painted in gold on a pink background.
