Cycling/ Prehistory/ Duncan/ Women's cycling/ Le Vésinet - Lot 35
Cycling/ Prehistory/ Duncan/ Women's cycling/ Le Vésinet Important 1897 volume from Juven, in a modern binding and without its cover, but in fine condition: "Vingt Ans de Cyclisme pratique", by Herbert Osbaldeston Duncan (1862-1945), 270 pages, 21.5 x 14 (in-8). The preserved end adverts set the mood, and with this thousand-faceted text, we plunge into the heart of cycling, bubbling in the wake of pacemakers, in the wheel of cyclistines. The training and dietary advice is all the more credible in that it comes from a great champion of the early days, inventor of the Buffalo, Rudge cycles, etc... He died in Le Vesinet, where he remains a leading figure along with Josephine Baker.
