Cycling/ Leducq/ Tour de France/ Scarf. - Lot 48
Cycling/ Leducq/ Tour de France/ Scarf. This 1927 Tour de France, Luxembourg's Nicolas Frantz (1899-1985), of the Alcyon team, dominated it by winning 3 stages, and relegating his runner-up in Paris, Maurice Dewaele, to almost 2 hours. Also taking part in the race was André Leducq (1904-1980), a friend from the Thomann subsidiary. Leducq also won 3 stages, finishing fourth and first in France. He was also Nick's first "team-mate", which earned him the beautiful scarf offered by the winner's compatriots. Not only are they virtually on the same team, but they shared the stages. In short, in Mamer, Frantz's stronghold, Leducq is celebrated as if he were family. What's more, since the late François Faber, links between the Grand Duchy and France have been very close. This scarf, with its faded colors, symbolizes this fraternal understanding: "Mamer Sportif, à André Leducq, 1er Français du Tour de France". Dédé was only 23, and had the makings of a winner; he would be one in 1930 and 32. 152 x 10 cm. Unique piece
