Tennis/ Nick Kirgios/ Racket - Lot 151
Tennis/ Nick Kirgios/ Racket
At the River Open, a preparatory tournament for the Australian Open in February 2021, Australian Nick Kirgios once again threw one of his secret tantrums. It was against Croatian Borna Coric, 6-3, 6-4, and the victim was once again his racket. In March 2022, it was his defeat by Nadal at Indian Wells that triggered another tantrum. In September of the same year, in the quarter-finals of the US Open, he went one better and broke two rackets. He came very close to victory, losing to Khachonov in five sets, in a match he could and should have won.
This Isometric Yonex, HM graphite, made in Japan, well inscribed "Nick", is a museum piece, part of the long tradition of angry people or sports professionals. Among the choleric, everyone remembers McEnroe, and with the professionals we go back to the good old days, with chain breakers and card shredders. Back then, it was a cabaret or public square show. With its white handle, still found at Kirgios. Beware, it is broken in three places, including a major one with a double break. Unique piece Ezone/98. 64 x 25 cM
