Olympic Games/ Summer, 1900/ Paris/ Alfred Picard - Lot 163
Olympic Games/ Summer, 1900/ Paris/ Alfred Picard
Report in fair condition (spine bent, traces of moisture, but very honorable and fundamental): "Rapport Général Administratif et Technique, tome 6, de l'Exposition Universelles de 1900, Ministère du Commerce, de l'Industrie, des Postes et Télégraphes". Imprimerie Nationale, 1903. By Alfred Picard, commissaire-général. Uncut copy.
The whole truth about these extraordinary Games. In these 328 pages, only pages 30 to 67 deal directly with the Games, but what fundamental details. Mind you, the rest is not uninteresting for the sport, especially the details of the festivities and ceremonies. But here, at last, we have all the official figures for all the participants and foreign delegations, as well as details of expenses. There were 57,144 French participants (including 6 women). Only 1,400 copies of the famous Vernon brochure were printed, with photos of events in Asnières, Meulan, Argenteuil-Triel and Vincennes... Balloons, sailing, rowing, etc. are visible in photos by Delton, Constant Robert, Merillon, d'Estournelle de Constat. 35 x 24 cm
