Olympic Games/ Roubaix/ Tourcoing/ Stockolm Two curious items on the pilot and little-known role of the Hauts de Seine in Olympic history: a) Official bulletin of the Racing Club Roubaix (founded 1895), weekly during the soccer season. 2nd year n°55, June 28, 1912, with portraits of the club's two athletes selected for the Stockolm Games, including the fabulous sprinter Georges Malfait (1878-1946) and Alfred Motte. Rare. Note the tasty comments by English association soccer international G.O. Smith on the art of passing for French players. Used condition. Three double pages, the last dedicated to local advertising, 24x16, folds. b) Issue 18 of Education Physique, October 15, 1906, with the headline "La fête Olympique de Tourcoing". In this issue entirely dedicated to the Tourcoing Olympic Festival and International Exhibition, promoted by Théo Vienne, the magazine's director, all the major political and sporting figures are involved, including Baron de Coubertin, who wrote a letter of congratulations and support. The Deputy-Mayor of Tourcoing, Mr. Dron, opens the ball of competitions and festivities with the Cantata "Le Triomphe de l'Athlète" created in honor of the Olympic festival by Mr. Rouzier-Dorcières (4 pages inset, often missing), pages 479 to 508, the poster, the poems are there, including one by Broutteux Watteeuw, in Northern dialect, on the Olympic festival. Mlle Sandrini, first dancer at the Opéra, is there, as is the athlete Malfait, seen above. There's also wrestling, boxing, fencing, the special Brennus medal, and 4 pages on the Congress.
