Maurice DENIS (1870-1943) Portrait of Pauline Denis (the painter's last daughter) in a Gospel scene, circa 1931. Preparatory drawing for the sixth station of the Stations of the Cross in the Chapel of La Clarté, Perros-Guirec (1931): A Devout Woman Wipes the Face of Jesus. Watercolor on brown paper. Signed lower left "MAURICE DENIS" 27.5 x 21 cm. Framer's label on back: Schleiper, Paris, 8e. Provenance: former collection of Pauline and Jean-Luc Dejean, then by descent. Unpublished work included in the Maurice Denis catalog raisonné in October 2024.
