China, Canton, late 19th or early 20th century Album comprising twelve gouaches on rice paper depicting scenes of people in traditional dress in interiors, covers trimmed with red silk. Bears a red stamp of the former owner: YEÜ SING. Also bears a dedication to Lisbeth (Élisabeth Graterolle, Maurice Denis' second wife) from grandfather Coullet. Small accidents on the gouaches, wear on the covers. Dimensions of gouaches: 33 x 20.5 cm. Album dimensions: 37 x 25 cm. A gouache on rice paper depicting two Chinese warriors, 18 x 27.5 cm, is included. Provenance: former collection of Pauline and Jean-Luc Dejean, then by descent. ?????-????? ??????? ?????????
