NASA. LARGE FORMAT. Historic Gemini IV mission. Edward H. Wh - Lot 23
NASA. LARGE FORMAT. Historic Gemini IV mission. Edward H. White II, pilot of the Gemini 4 spacecraft, floats in the weightlessness of space with a member of the Earth in the background. This spacewalk was performed during the third revolution of the Gemini 4 spacecraft, and represents the first time an American has stepped outside the confines of his spacecraft. White is attached to the spacecraft by a 7.5 m umbilical line and a 7 m tether line, both wrapped in gold tape to form a single cord. In his right hand, White carries a hand-held homing unit (HHSMU). The visor of his helmet is gold-plated to protect him from the sun's rays. June 1965. Later chromogenic print. Numbering on front. Legend on back label. 40.6 x 40.6CM with margins.
