FRANCHE-COMTÉ. Comte De LAVIER. Attestation signed by the Curé of CALMOUTIER (Haute-Saône) in Franche Comté, with Subscription of Pierre François, Bishop of Philadelphia, suffragan of BESANÇON. April 3, 1743. He declares that "Monsieur le Comte DE LAVIER Seigneur de ce lieu, is in charge of 6 living children, three sons and three daughters, the two eldest of the boys, are in the service of His Majesty, and have distinguished themselves by their valor in the army of Bohemia, the third of the children wears the petit collet, and studies in Besançon. The eldest daughter and the third, who is 7 years old, are here, while the second is at Saint Cyr; so that Seigneur DE LAVIER, not being rich, cannot place or advance his children according to the distinction of his nobility...". 2 pages in-4°.
