INDES FRANÇAISES. 4 letters: Pondicherry May 1792. Letter fr - Lot 385
INDES FRANÇAISES. 4 letters: Pondicherry May 1792. Letter from MOUROUX to his Mother CASTELBAS, wife of a Procureur in MEAUX (Seine-et-Marne): "... The Revolutions that have taken place throughout France may have caused you grief through the loss of some of our family members, but I will not hide it from you, they have done us a great deal of good. They have broken the slavery under which those rich beggars made us crawl. I can tell you now that the chiefs of India at the time were very fond of beating up the soldiers. I was lucky enough not to be punished at all. I work for Mr Graincourt, who is a bailiff at the Pondicherry High Council...". + Commercial letter from NANTES, October 4 1853, to Mr A. D'ILE Capitaine de Navire in PONDICHERY + Letter from General FERRIER in PONDICHERY, East Indies, December 25 1854, about the publication of his book and the corrections to be made to his work "Autrefois aux chasseurs d'Afrique", "... I'm still working on "Quinze ans dans l'Asie centrale", but I'm making slow progress. As the duties of my job absorb a large part of my time, there is very little left to write my memoirs, which I very much hope to advance in 1860...". + Letter from the Apostolic Vicariate of Pondicherry, April 6, 1884.
