AMAURY-DUVAL (Eugène PINEU-DUVAL, known as) French painter. (Montrouge (92) 1808 - 1885) - Letter A.S. July 2, 1839. 1p in-8°. Addressed to Mr LEJEUNE, Librarian in Chartres: "Monsieur, I was in the country when you did me the honor of sending me a copy of the Description de l'incendie de la Cathédrale de Chartres... please accept my thanks... I cannot judge your discussion, ignorant as I am of all archaeological matters. What I regret is that good intelligence has ceased between you and him (Didron). I only saw the result." Attached is a fragment of a signed piece by the painter Amaury-Duval, dated 1849.
