Louis SAY, Explorer. Louis Jean-Baptiste SAY (Nantes 1852 - Port-Say 1915) Naval officer and explorer. Son of Louis Octave SAY, the sugar refiner. Founded Port-Say in Algeria in 1915 - Autograph letter signed Paris February 14, 1883. 2 pages in-8°: "Monsieur. Despite my great desire to be of service to you, I regret to inform you that the newspapers have made a mistake. I was part of Mr ROUVIER's Cabinet, specially attached to the Colonies. I was appointed Lieutenant de Vaisseau, but I was not part of the Cabinet of Mr. BERLET, Under-Secretary of State for the Navy... For the tobacco offices. I dare not promise you my assistance. I have twice asked Léon SAY for the same thing. He replied by showing me the number of requests and the number of vacant offices. On the other hand, I am told that Madame WILSON is the one to contact, and what you tell me about General PITTIÉ in your letter makes me think that, more than anyone else, you are in a position to assert your rights, so legitimate and so cruelly acquired from Madame Richard...".
