NASA. A rare and exceptional view of the SPARTAN 201 satellite from the Space Shuttle DISCOVERY (Mission STS-56), which has just been released into Space by the Space Shuttle. SPARTAN-201 is a free satellite designed to study the solar wind and part of the solar corona. The SPARTAN project was developed in the late 1970s to enhance the scientific capabilities of experiments carried out aboard the Space Shuttle. April 1993.
