Nasa. LARGE FORMAT. HUBBLE telescope. This rare view of a disk galaxy shows the impressive peculiarity of this type of extremely thin galaxy. Indeed, from Earth, this type of galaxy is rarely visible from such a vantage point. This galaxy is classified as a lenticular galaxy with many complex, dark, red dust lanes. The blue disk of young stars can be seen extending beyond the dust in the extremely thin galactic plane, while the bulge in the center of the disk appears more orange from the older, redder stars that probably exist. 1994.
