NASA. DEEP SPACE. If this new image from Webb's MIRI instrum - Lot 334
NASA. DEEP SPACE. If this new image from Webb's MIRI instrument looks dark and gloomy, it's because things are different in the mid-infrared than in the visible, ultraviolet or near-infrared - the wavelengths you're more used to seeing with Hubble, Webb and other space telescopes. Space photography evolves with technological progress, and in 50 years' time, new photographs will still be different from those of today or yesterday, evolving like artistic movements in the History of Art. The galaxy frozen here resembles grey spider webs in the shape of a spiral. These "spider webs" are patterns of gas distributed throughout the galaxy. The galaxy's core glows dark blue. The stars, visible as tiny blue dots, are scattered throughout the image. Vintage chromogenic print. Numbering in the margin on the front. Legend on label on back. 20.4 x 25.4CM with margins.
