NASA. DEEP SPACE. LARGE FORMAT. An extraordinary galaxy that takes the form of a cosmic corona overflowing with new stars. This galaxy is very dusty, but thanks to infrared vision, we can observe features such as the intense ring of star formation around its luminous center. The large spikes are not real objects, but diffraction peaks, an effect of very bright light interacting with the telescope's mirrors. Here, the center of the galaxy is extremely bright due to the light emitted by the heated dust and gas falling into the central black hole.
